Dear sweet baby girl,
I can hardly believe you're already 10 weeks (and 3 days) old! Every day goes by so fast, and every morning you seem to have grown another inch! I bought you a bunch of 3 month pajamas and you outgrew them two weeks ago, so I went out and bought 6 pairs of 6 month pajamas two weeks ago. Your toes are already cramming into the bottoms of them and you won't be able to straighten your legs out in them for much longer! You are such a big girl! (Not fat, just long...long legs, long arms, long body. You're our tall girl!)
You smile so much now, it melts my heart every time. I've gotten in a bad habit of holding you and rocking you to sleep, and now you've decided that's not so bad either! We got your new organic crib mattress and I set it all up for you last night, or course, you fell asleep in my arms and then slept in your swing all night long (except for the 2:00-3:30 feeding / pooping / rocking session.)
You hold your head up so well now, with only the occassional bobble head business. You love to chew on your hands, and sometimes prefer them to your pacifier. I'm afraid you'll be a thumb sucker if I take away the pacifier, or maybe you'll get attached to both? What then?
When you're getting agitated you start to thrash your arm up and down, like you're conducting an orchestra that has gotten out of hand. If we don't accomodate you, your leg starts to pump furiously too, and then we have just seconds to "fix it" before you melt down. You don't cry much, but when you do, you can get pretty worked up pretty fast. Your head turns all read and tears start to flow. It breaks my heart and I'll do anything to make it better.
You love being read to (we read every day.) Your favorite books are the new Ladybug / Tiger / Elephant / and Fish fat books. They have these great illustrations on one page and the words on the other. The funny thing is, you never look at the illustrations, you just look at the words and follow my finger as I read them to you! You really like the "See with Me Bible" too. We've already read through the "Read with Me Bible" and now we're on round 2. You also really like your ABC and phonics flash cards. I'm not sure why...maybe it's the simple pictures of Cats and Hats and Fish.
This month we went to Kansas for the first time to see your Papa and Grandma on the farm. You met your Aunt Tammy and cousin Hudson for the first time there. Your cousin Ethan and Aunt Jenny rode down with us, and Tammy and Hudson joined us for the trip back. You did so well! You slept almost the entire way there and back, except for a mini-lunch break each way. Other than that big adventure, we don't go out much. I'm a freak about the Flu and I've heard these horror stories about babies getting it this season, so we stay in. When we do go out, I cover you up in your carseat with a blanket. I'm tempted to have onesies printed for you that say "Don't touch me! It's flu season!" rather than the cute one I have that says "Kiss me, I'm too cute!"
We love you so much! It's hard to believe how much we can love someone who's only been a part of our lives for 10 weeks. I thank God every day for the miracle of you.
Per Katie's request, I'll post pics with this soon! :)
