Baby Layla in Kansas
Hannah and her Great Grandma Robbie Umholtz
I am so behing in blogging world!
We went to Kansas, pics and updates coming soon.
Highlights. My cousin Cody married Molly B. This was probably the poshest wedding I've ever been to, very very nice. They even got a blessing, framed, from the Pope himself.
Grandma and Grandpa Claassen at the rehearsal dinner on the farm.
We spent the weekend in Kansas, Walt babysat Hannah and Ethan and missed the wedding, since kids were not allowed. I missed the delicious meal, since Hannah needed to eat. But I did eat my share of shrimp and chocolate fountain strawberries prior to my Cinderella rush out the door.
Walt returned on Sunday and Hannah and I stayed until Wednesday with Jenny, Ethan, and Layla. Ethan got a fever of 106 and had to make a trip to the ER on monday night. Very scary, and we still don't know what caused it!
Dad got the grandkids their first motorized vehicle. A John Deer tractor with front loader and trailer. The trailer was very tempting for a ride for Hannah, but we refrained. It was a good thing, I saw Ethan flip the trailer over while backing up later. I'd hate to have to explain that injury to a pediatrician with their finger on the DHS button....
Ethan was very serious about his tractor. I said I was going in to get the video and he said, "OK, but I won't be here when you get back. I have lots of work to do!" And took off. He is a very good driver. He took loads of potatoes from the garden to the shop for Dad, and hauled piles of dirt from one place to the other. He actually knows how to drive Dad's big riding lawn mower too. Much better than I could!
Hannah loves the farm. She especially loved the kittens. She was very gentle with them, and didn't even try to eat them once. We snuck into the chicken house once and they were all sitting in the pan eating, and when they saw us they scattered fast! Hannah just laughed and laughed at this!
Her other favorite activity was napping / nursing in the hammock with her mommy. I liked this one as well.
And of course watching Ethan's every move. Or trying to get her hands on Layla. She thinks Layla is her very own dolly.

ok. here's the lowdown since you asked. i'm warning you, it isn't pretty.
i was also at my wits end. ben was 5 months old and waking every 1-2 hours for a comfort feed. he had slept w/ us until he was 4 months old and then i did the comfort feeding for 1 month until i couldn't take it. i asked my doc. he said let him cry it out for 2 nights. i scoffed. then my mom convinced 2 nights wouldn't damage him and if it didn't work oh well. i tried it. brad had to hold my hand it was soooo hard. the first night he cried twice for 30 min. each. the 2nd night he cried 1 30 min. and 1 15 min. the 3rd night he didn't wake up for 10 1/2 hours.
now he sleeps 10-11 hours every night w/o waking.
i know it sounds cruel but it saved my sanity. also, he is much happier through the day because he is well rested.
let me know how it goes. :)
