Ferber Shmerber

So we didn't do the cry it out thing. Hannah came down with a cold so we nixed that plan. Since then I've realized that I don't think I can do it. At least not yet. The whole "extinction" of the crying thing just goes against my nature...5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes, etc. All to teach your baby that it doesn't matter how hard she cries, you're not going to respond? I realize I may be recanting in a month or two (or a few years), but for now, we're going to try some other methods first.

What those methods are...I'm not exactly sure, but we'll figure something out. Right? Right?

On another note, the new house is finally coming along. The floors are going in tomorrow. The painting is pretty much done, and the electrician is getting light fixtures in. I'm so excited!

I faux finished the formal living room this weekend, and it looks great. I'd like to do something over the light green in the dining room, but I'm not sure what. Any ideas? I tried faux finishing gold over it, and it looked like a giant rust spot. Not pretty at all.

I think in theory they Ferber method is good. But in real life it does come off as mean. It is a good idea to let them cry a while though. I found that ROUTINE was our best friend. Do the same exact thing every night for a long time and eventually they will figure it out. It worked like a charm. Good luck. This too shall pass. =)

Oh sweet Saundra, not a fun place to be, I know. I only have a few more months of 'good sleep' before our newborn will be keeping me awake! (I'm sure the girls will do their part too!) The 'good sleep' comment was a bit sarcastic. I miss that sleep I use to get before dogs or kids. . . I use to sleep ALL night long, I can't even imagine that anymore! Anyway, I miss you & we'll have to get in touch over the phone to catch up! Love you! ~W.
