Catching up & 27 weeks!

OK, so I haven't posted in a long, long time!

The good news is, part of that time was spent researching and buying a new camera, so once I figure out our latest gadget, I'll be posting more photos (I hope.)

Here's a quick update:
LAMAZE
Walt and I are going to Lamaze classes, which we actually really enjoy! The other day in class this guy asked about circumcision, and the instructor told him there really weren't any health benefits either way, and that it was just a matter of choice. I was sitting there biting my tongue, and finally couldn't take it so I raised my hand (to Walt's mortification) and asked her about the study they recently did in Africa where circumcized males had a much less AIDS rate, and another study where the female parters of uncircumcised males had higher incidence of cervical cancer (germy.) She said, yes, but dismissed those studies as not conclusive. I said something about Walt saying I read too much, and she said, "Oooh, you can never read to much!" And Walt, my dear, sweet husband said, "YEAH, but we're having a GIRL!!!" The whole class burst out laughing and I turned about 16 shades of red. About the color of a placenta (which we saw later in a video. Gross.)

REMODELS
We have finally started remodeling the baby room! By "we" I mean Walt, who technically means his brother Jeff, who works for Walt, and has been delegated to working on my new windows and trim and closet. Now Walt is prepping to repair drywall and start painting. (A lovely shade of buttery yellow with possibly one wall in this pale violet-like blue.) I have yet to start sewing the baby curtains, but I do have the fabric...a big floral print, very unlike me and my "anti-print" philosophy, but I love it in it's sweet girly-ness.

The kitchen remodel is next on the list. All in order to fit a mini-dishwasher into our kitchen. Can you believe I've lived without a dishwasher for nearly 10 years? That doesn't include varous roommates who picked up the slack for me (thank you Shelly, Deanna, and Walt. :)

THE FALL
No, I'm not talking about the Garden of Eden. I fell down! And when I say I fell down, I mean I really fell down. I was visiting a friend and looking at her and talking as I walked, and completely missed the curb in front of her house. It was one of those slow motion falls, where I tripped, nearly caught myself, stumbled, again, and my forward propelling belly took my balance way forward, and down I went. I landed on my knee, hands, and right hip, (thank you God, not on my belly!!) but it was still scary. Baby girl seems to be fine though, and I now have a strawberry on my knee so I can relate to my 2 year old nephew better. He was very concerned, and asked me all about how it happened, and wants to see my ouchie often to see if it's "all better" yet.

This is the same nephew (Ethan) who asks to see baby girl, and "pet" her, and looks at her through my belly button and informs me of what she is doing (eating, sleeping, etc.) Sooo cute!

BOTTLES & DIAPERS
I realize this probably falls into "reading too much", but I'm working on doing the cloth diaper thing. AND, although I plan to breast feed, I've registered for a few bottles, and discovered there is one kind "born free" that doesn't have the nasty, BSP or BPS or whatever kind of plastic. You can get them in glass bottles, or in the BSP free plastic variety at Babies R Us (they also have a sippy cup.) I've always wondered about that...I mean, we know we're not supposed to heat up plastics because they leach cancer causing bad stuff, but we heat up milk and feed it to our babies from plastic bottles? Doesn't make sense.

OK, it's almost five am, so back to bed for me. Baby woke me up with a lot of kicking and fussing for oatmeal at around three...she's funny about breakfast times!

Hello sweet friend, I was so happy to read your comment on our blog! I'm glad all is well after your 'spill'. Unfortunately clumsiness is a side effect of pregnancy. I'm excited you want to be involved in our HOMH project. I'm talking to a girl at the local hospital (Doernbecker) in Portland. I'll keep you updated. But if you wanted to start to knit I'm sure we'll get it going soon! I love you & look forward to talking to you soon! ~Wendy
